If Putin refuses to give up power, and he wants total power, eventually the Allies (U.S., U.K., France) will get involved. History definitely repeats itself.

"dagonet", international politics affect you and everyone else in this world. If Putin takes total power, Russia could return to an autocracy. His associates/police forces are killing journalists, while he is ignoring the opposition. It does matter. You're just too ignorant to know that.

Did I say that Russia was going to take over the world?? No. The Russian people should have to live under such a government, much less such a person.

Well because of Russia's system, he will have to give up power eventually. What he is doing now is attempting to be the Prime Minister because he served the max terms as President. Actually, this is quite valid and can be done. It is up to the ppl to vote his party out.

As far as the rest of the world getting involved, the USA IMMEDIATELY spoke out against the recent election where his party won.... accusing it of being fraudulent.

The problem of course is the Bush Administration has no credibility concerning election fraud considering they won the presidency in 2000 by a Supreme Court vote while NOT winning the majority vote.

Well who cares as long as he doesn't effect us. Really let the ruskies be. If they ever want to compete with us again they will have to stop this govt. corruption b$$$. So I figure they will fix themselves.

What are you talking about that is already happening, and has been since the cold war. The truth is russia has been corrupt for nearly 70 yrs., and still is much like a communist country. I'm well aware of Putin "extending his term" by being prime minister, and i'm also aware of the nationalizing of oil, and the coup with iran. The point is russia has been playing the same game for decades, and nothing has happened. The closest we got to war was the cuban missile crisis. Russia is basically a third world country with a large but poorly equiped mitlitary. Russia is weak, and until they can gain back their former self, they are not not a big threat. So how can you say russia will try to conquer the world???? When russia hasn't even fixed itself yet.

Well then why is something that has been happening for decades concern me? As far as I can see russia hasn't changed much from what it's been doing. Sure it's discouraging, but what can we do? And more importantly why should we do anything?

Great, another Russophobe… another helpless ignorant users leaving a blemish on yahoo. Ugh, will it never end?

Kid, there's nothing going on in Russia. Look to the west if you're so worried.

Edit: The "allies" have been trying to play with Russias political system ever since the early 1900s (1920). It never stopped.

He already does and we haven't. Russia has doomed itself to third world status and as a third world country, it will continue to have a large but useless military so nobody really cares other then they are a permanent member of the security council so can be a stick in the mud. France and Russia have no place there; India does.

The "Allies" would be the US and five or six soldiers from Korea. So basically just us. We can't afford anymore wars, we're broke.
