Civil lawsuit pending, one condition of continuance was reversal of TRO, access to premises garage, no access to residence. Defendant is being sued by ex-girlfriend of 4 years for half of his legally owned and titled property, in which she has been residing for the last 14 months free. Can the TRO be removed completely from the legal system? A domestic violence accusation looks very slanderous. FYI, absolutely unfounded and this was obviously intended to be used as a ploy for the pending lawsuit.

A TRO expires after a certain period of time..it's very meaning - temporary restraining order means that it doesn't go on forever. It can be dismissed but cannot usually be expunged (criminal matters are expunged; this is in relation to a civil case).

The lawsuit will, however, remain a public record and is searchable (sometimes on the internet, depending on whether the court has its records available online).

A TRO will either expire at the end of it's period, or can be canceled by the court that issued it.

The fact that the TRO 'was" issued, however, is a matter of public record, and will remain so.
