My outlook is this: All undefeated teams must be ranked ahead of all 1-loss teams, which must all be ranked ahead of all 2-loss teams, etc. So, at this point in my mind the real question isn't should Hawaii be #1, it's "Should Kansas or Ohio State be #2 and playing against #1 Hawaii?"
Of course, the system's designed to generate profits for six conferences while allowing them to pound their chests and duckspeak about how great they are based solely on the circular -and thus flat-out fallacious - reasoning of, "The SEC is the hardest conference because it has the best teams. The teams in the SEC are the best because they play in the hardest conference." Not to, you know, let the team with the best record have a shot at being #1.
So congratulations to the one coach and the 1 AP voter who put Hawaii at #1, where they belong. If I knew who they were, I'd praise them by name.
Here's hoping Hawaii eviscerates Georgia.

Why not they are the only undefeated team. The only problem is they play a weak division and the only good team they played was Boise St. which is not as good this year as in the past couple. It would be great to have a playoff system like Division 2 college football to find out if Hawaii is the best team or not.

of course they'd make a bcs bowl if they went undefeated.. they wont go undefeated tho but ya with wuts happened and considering they're already ranked in the middle of the pack with each win and being one of the only undefeated teams they'd move up and up each week so they'd at least be in the top 5 meaning they'd almost undoubtedly make a bcs bowl game even tho they aren't legit to be in one

No, they play in a crappy conference and have only played one ranked team(17 boise state 39-27) a coule weeks ago. I watched their poor performance against Washington and I was not convinced they should even be in the top 10. They beat Louisiana Tech by 1 point earlier in the seasons, which LSU beat later in the season 58-10. They have blown most of their opponents out of the water, but if you put any other top 10 team with their schedule, that team would be undefeated and beat every team by at least 40.

Honestly, I think so.
I don't believe they would be truly #1, though.
They would get stomped in the national championship.
College Football's system is stupid as hell, we need a playoff.
But the fact is Hawaii is undefeated. It is as simple as that. I don't care if their division sucks. If college football stays like this there will always be some teams that will never be able to prove themselves.

So what. They have played no competition.
If Stuckinthemud University played a bunch of high school teams and finished undefeated, should they be in the BCS over Hawaii?
They are luck to be #12 and make the BCS game.

I'm a huge "stick it to the BCS" guy, but Hawaii should play for the championship. they have too easy of a schedule plus because they play in Hawaii, they get more home games (7) than anyone else.

Hawai'i plays in the WAC
the WAC is NOT apart of the BCS
therefore Hawai'i can not play for a BCS title
if the WAC wants in, they will need to payoff the right people to get their conference in the BCS. Now national pressure will mount if Hawai'i wins against Georgia and then goes Undefeated next year. Do all of that and Hawai'i will play in the BCS title game.
