For decades, environmentalism has been the Left's best excuse for increasing government control over our actions in ways both large and small. It's for Mother Earth! It's for the children! It's for the whales! But until now, the doomsday-scenario environmental scares they've trumped up haven't been large enough to give the sinister prize they want most of all: total control of American politics, economic activity, and even individual behavior. With global warming, however, greenhouse gasbags can argue that auto emissions in Ohio threaten people in Paris, and that only global government can tackle such problems. National sovereignty? Democracy? Forget it: global warming has now brought the Left closer to global government, statism, and the eradication of individual rights than it has ever been before.

There is a realistic way to stop it. We need to stop increasing worldwide greenhouse gas emissions around 2015 and decrease them by about 80% by 2050. While this is a difficult proposition, it is not impossible or necessarily unrealistic.
The Kyoto Protocol was simply a small first step in the right direction. Future international agreements will be far more rigorous.

That is the wrong attitude. If we all do our part, even tho it is small, then collectively we make SOME difference. We also should be lobbying our governments to take action on that level. Global warming may be a cycle but we can also ease its gains which may be what allos the earth to better cope.

Every time I get behind the wheel I think of the effect that I myself have. Think of this effect billions of times over as humans are driving and polluting every second. There is no stopping it and the governments are foolish to think that anything can be done as it will take years just to get any kind of agreements. Let people belly ache as it is not an individual problem it is a societal problem and mother nature will be the one to solve it, so just go on with your life and do not worry about others worries.

We can't stop it, but slow it down to allow time for a new technology to solve the problem to be found.
So, let's start avoiding polution now while the solution is in the air.

If you can slow it down, you can stop it but even if it was not stopped slowing it down may give us enough time to find a solution that guaranties survival of spices or maybe we should all commit suicide because we are going to die anyway. One thing is for sure ignoring the problem will not solve it.

well, if we stop now, we have longer to find a way to solve global warming. its like quick sand, if we were to just stop jerking around (using gas) we would sink slower, allowing us to look 4 a way out, and so that when we do, we wont be too deep in to get out

it can be slowed down, thus letting less people be affected. Think of the children! But i agree with you, its gonna happen anyway so who gives a f**k. when it does happen, it wont be in our lifetime. I guess the politics are just trying to make it look like they care so in 100 years theyll look back and say "At least they tried"

Hmmm, that is a good point, however maybe there's ways to slow it down, but what most people don't realize that the most damage will be done 100s or even 1,000s of years from now.
