Elephants are sometimes connected with long memory.

If you don't want to use an elephant, try a migrating bird. Birds can travel different distances and arrive to the same place the same time of year.

Pigeons (technically called doves) can fly within cities and come to where they began.

On a more global scale, try gulls, great blue herons, or (my favorite bird) the snowy egret. They usually migrate to the same areas.

If a bird doesn't interest you, you can try a blue whale. They follow warmer, nutrient-rich ocean currents and can often be seen in specific places at specific times.

Octopi actually have a good memory. They can remember and recognize specific people as well as "mazes" and means to escape the mazes.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

If your project is Greek oriented, you should go with birds, although everyone's answers were excellent; I say that only because of Hermes, the winged footed messenger god of the Greek mythos, who incidentally carries a magickal winged staff called the Caduceus. Metaphysically Hermes is viewed by some as a charming rogue deity, as he is the patron of thieves liars and gamblers.....lol....however, he is associated with intellect, and the mind...
On a side note, or pantheon, in the Nordic Magickal beliefs Odin, King of the Norse gods, had two ravens who perched on his shoulders Hugginn, (Thought) and Munnin (Memory). They were his eyes and ears on earth, and his messengers.
Hope this helps

Elephant is the most common answer, I'd think. I'd go with a whale or an owl, personally. Whales have incredibly long lives, and I believe that if humans have souls, then whales do as well. Whales follow the same migratory patterns throughout their lives to reach their breeding grounds and to go to the warmer souther climates in the winter. I don't know if there are any whales around Greece though...

Owls are synonamous the the Godess of the Hunt Athena though, I think.

If you have a good memory, they say you have memory like an elephant.
They say an elephant never forgets.
Why? I never thought about it, but I'm sure google can easily find an answer.
