They boost our morale. We are happy and proud to have such a beast in our country.
There are not that many of them left now, but they eat a variety of plant and animal food. They eat many thousands of army cutworm moths, helping to keep their numbers in check; they eat berries, thus spreading their seeds. They eat carrion, keeping the forest a cleaner place. They bring tourists to California to see them.

I have never heard of any species being evaluated on the basis of its usefulness to humans.
Grizzly bears are and asset wherever they occur. They graze vegetation, they recycle dead animals, They consume large amounts of insects. Like all life they fill a role they have evolved to fill.
The biggest use to me is they are magnificent creatures.
