sigh. oh boy. a router question. its such a complicated and broad topic that its really hard to determine the exact problem. is your router secured?. start off by resettin the router.
some router have a little button the back that can only be reached by a little need. some can be resetted by unpluggin it for a certain amount of time. around 5 minutes. if there are no buttons. reset it w/ the second option. after you do that. unplug the modem for 2 minutes. then plug it back in. wait till all the lights goes up. the plug in your router. wait for all the lights to go up to. test the connection by plugin into port 2 of the router into your computer. give it a minute to connect. try out the connection. if it works. then you can proceed into configurin the wireless. look into your user manual and see what's the default username/pw for that router and look for the gateway ip. type 192.168.1.1 into your browser and press enter. it should ask you for the username/pw. once you are in. there sould be a wireless setup wizard. follow that and you should be a wireless network up and runnin. if not post back where it goes wrong and we'll try it help ya :] good luck.

I have that same router. The laptop Im using has a special option that automatically connects to the router so maybe yourrs still has to be manually connected. Try checking on the bottom right side of ur screen (where the time is) and check if u can adjust the options

1st- Disconnect the power wire on the router for 30-60 seconds then connect it again.

2nd- Go to the wireless Icon by your clock and RH click on it and select Search for Available Networks.

Need to know what happens after that. Does it see your router? Does it ask you to connect? If it does and you click on connect does it ask for a WEP Key or a WPA Passphrase? That sorta stuff

For all I know you auto connected after the power cycle of the router.

If this is a laptop look around the sides for a tiny slide switch. Inbuilt wireless cards have this for power saving, it is very easy to knock it off.
