Prokaryotes live a feast and famine life style. When food is plentiful, they multiple quickly to compete with others. When food is scarce, they become dorment or die. Eukaryotes can move around to search for food. They tend to care about their own survival than to reproduce.

Prokaryotes reproduce asexually, while eukaryotes reproduce sexually. Asexual reproduction is faster than sexual, and in some species it will take less energy. In asexual reproduction, you may use binary fission, which is the one parent cell dividing, but in sexual reproduction, you need to find two organisms of the same species that can exchange genetic material to create genetically different offspring.

They are simpler organisms (smaller, no nucleus), and their reproduction time is shorter than that for eukaryotes.

ETA: Realize that not all eukaryotes are multi-celled. There are many single-celled, asexually reproducing eukaryotes that can only move around as much as your average prokaryote.

Also, bacteria can have sex, they just don't do it very often :)
