I was watching the Bengals-Steelers game and saw it on the back of all of their helmets, both teams. Maybe it was just for those teams or just for that game.

It is im memory of Sean Taylor, Redskins #21. He was pronounced dead earlier after being shot in his home on Tuesday. 4 people have been arrested and charged with non-premeditated murder in the case. There has also been a moment of silence in every NFL stadium today.
Makes me remember We Are Marshall, and the true story there... gives me warm fuzzies when football types do sentimental stuff.
Edit: @ terry C - I don't know that it's been the biggest sports story. The BCS upsets took up an awful lot of news time. SHOULD have been a bigger story, but it seems that sometimes we forget the humanity of football and focus only on the numbers.

Washington Redskins Pro Bowl FS #21 Sean Taylor was shot in the femural artery when people broke into his house not expecting him 2 be there, so all nfl is wearing 21 on there helmets.

That is to pay tribute to the tragic death of Sean Taylor of the Redskins, who died from being shot. R.I.P. Taylor, the Redskins fans aren't the only ones who will never forget him. I am a Jet and Giant fan, and I hope Taylor is at peace. To the Redskins fans, I won't forget Taylor. I think the Skins should retire #21 for Taylor.
