I always liked Nomar. I'm not clear on all the details that lead up to his departure with the Red Sox but I got the impression that the was a real parting of the ways. It didn't seem like management was treating him very fairly. For Nomars sake I wish the Sox hadn't dumped him when they did. I would like to at least seen him get a ring in 2004.
I follow his career and still think he is a excellent ball player when healthy. Certain players are identified with certain teams. I will always look at him as a Red Sox and no other team.

I would rather have Orlando Cabrera back.
Nomar is past his prime and wouldn't doubt if his name comes up during the Mitchell steroid scandal.
I liked Nomar while he was playing here but that was years ago. I would not want him here now and don't think he would fit in with the clubhouse gang. Plus he is very injury prone and he would only be good as a DH.
Hopefully Lugo picks it up next year which I think he will after his first year here. Go Sox......

The Dodgers have used Nomar at 3d and 1st the last few years. He has not been great at the plate and has been hurt both years with the Dodgers. I think that Lugo has been better defensively than Nomar would have been at short. I think the real question is, Why did they not sign Cabrera after the 2004 season?

I'll take Lugo oddly enough!
I believe he hit near .400 in the playoffs! .350+
With all of the other firepower in that lineup a .240 batting average was no cause for concern!
Plus trading Nomar got use Dave Roberts and he single handly broke the curse!

Lugo for now, because he is younger, faster, better at shortstop, and cheaper. There is no way Nomar could play short anymore.

Honestly I originally was skeptical about losing Nomar but it seemed like he was really milking injury at that point. Plus, if they didn't move him then the deals wouldn't have gone through with the players that helped with the 2004 WS. So at this point I would rather take my chances with Lugo.

id rather the sox give the job to lowrie. i liked nomar alot when he was here with the sox but the truth is they let him go just in time, and i never liked the lugo singing but hey they still won. so here is to theo and every move he makes that always seems to work out for the best. GO SOX.
