Did Aerosmith's bass player use a 4 string or a 5 string? I want to get an Aerosmith book, but don't know if I have the right bass.

It's not unusual for a player to use different instruments at different times. He might have played a 5 string on some songs, but I wouldn't worry about it.
If there is an occasional low D, C or whatever in a song you want to learn, play it up an octave. It will give you experience in working around stuff like that.

I believe he used a 5 string,I'm not absolutely sure though.
