I been trying to figure out how to do this on a scientific calculator. Also how is done on a graphing TI83 calculator? Both techniques will be a plus.

in order to get any root on the calculator punch in ^(1/n) where "n" is the root you want

On the scientific calculator, there's probably a button x^y.

To take a root, remember that the 5th root of x is the same as x^(1/5). Enter it that way.

on the TI, there's a math button and you can get to roots from there.

For a TI-83, type the number you want to take to the power of (2 for square, 3 for cube root and so on), hit math and then "5" and then the number you want to take the root of. Alternatively, you can just use exponents to take the roots (i.e. a number ^(1/2) is the square root, ^(1/3) is the cube root and so on)
