i am 32 and i mostly wear clothing from places like j. crew, banana republic, ann taylor loft and chico's.
what is important isn't necessarily what is brands you are wearing but how you wear them. hem lines should be longer, and you should be more covered up. not those mini mini skirts, mid driff baring tops etc. you can still be sexy and attractive by wearing longer shirts, not exposing your belly etc.
i hate to say it on this group, but stop shopping at places like Abercrombie, Hollister and AE. I personally don't think that women in their 30s should be wearing that stuff. At least not during the week in a work environment. fine for weekend, but not every day.
I realy don't wear any sort of clothing anymore embalzoned with company's logos or catchy phrases. read no "juicy" or "pink" on my behind, thank you. minimalist and simple is better.

Nothing that is like from Hollister, or any store that's for people in their young twenties.
There's really not too many rules. Long sleeved blouses, short sleeved shirts, and fuzzy sweaters are great. Just nothing with cleavage. You can wear tanks, as long as they're not spaghetti strap and maybe wearing it with a jacket would be better too.
Jeans, black pants, and knee length skirts would be the best, too. No mini skirts. After all, what kind of fully grown woman would wear a mini skirt???
As for other clothes, stockings, vests, jackets, heels, black flats, and other comfortable shoes would be good.
Don't forget LBD! (aka, little black dress) Just don't be too little!

I'm 25 and I wear braided pigtails because the handlebar kind don't look good on me. But still, some people look cute like that. What's that one show with the EMO chick who's got the black hair? CSI? She wears her hair in pigtails and she plays a scientist... I think. That's grown up enough for me. Next time she makes a comment like that, make a comment about her being a dried up old lady who's apparently extremely out of touch with her inner child and is just jealous of all the fun everyone else is having.

ok so if you are 31 and you are wearing hollister and abercrombie and aeropostale, then i can see why they say you dress too "young". don't get me wrong! those clothes are awesome, and i owned a lot of them BUT they are for JUNIORS/teens, and many early 20s can get away with wearing that stuff. You should be wearing more "professional" and CLASSY clothes. i like New York & Company, GAP/Banana Republic etc.
if you are not wearing juniors clothes then you need to elaborate on what exactly you wear, so you question can get answered.

Well it all depends on what type of body you have and if you feel comfortable show parts of your body off. You can be 31 and look absolutely gorgeous with a skirt and a tank top. You can get jeans and a nice sweater. You can get a shirt that show off cleavage (Hilary Clinton). If you feel sexy in what you wear, then stick to it. Just do not dress like a old lady!
P.S. If your going to wear stuff that you do not feel comfortable in, then other will see that you do not feel conferable in it and it will look good on you. You have to love what your in or feel confident in it!

I am 32. I wear lots of Ann Taylor Loft things to work. I am unsure of what someone means when they say you are dressing too young for your age. Unless you are going to work in piggy tails and knee socks, the syles are pretty much blended for our time. I have friends older and younger than me, and we all wear about the same things. Don't let people get you down. If you feel good about yourself and are appropriately dressed and look damn good, then who cares what someone thinks?

wideleg jeans or slacks, with a blouse of cami under a fitten jacket. I'm not sure what your body looks like, but that outfit is pretty universal. Watch What Not To Wear on TLC for more ideas.

don't you dare wear mom jeans or loafers or anything.
you should be fine as long as you're not wearing mini skirts, belly shirts, child's characters, and anything else that would be in the junior's section, you should be fine.
shop at the gap, ann taylor, banana republic, and old navy.
those are all age appropriate.

Whatever looks good on you and is appropriate for the setting you find yourself at. If you look good in tight jeans then wear them, but not to places like a formal gathering. Likewise don't wear an evening dress to a ball game.

Flaunt it all tastefully depending on where you are in the world. If you are in Chicago definately conservitive since it is a boring, ugly, conservitive town with very insecure women.
BTW- 31 is young.
