why would my accelerator pedal stick on a 2005 ford focus?

throttle cable sticking, due to dirty throttle body, or something interferring with movement of linkage

In most cases this is a simple fix,, Get and old touth brush,go to a local auto parts store and pic up a can of throtle body cleaner,IT does not haft to be the most expensive,,, remove the breather tube going to the throtle body, that's the long black tube about 3inches in diamiter,it also conects to the airfilter box. there is a butterfly flap,just inside ,hold the butterfly open and spray claener inside and scrub down with the touth brush, wipe clean with a clean rag, This will make the padle feel alot smoother,
