What kind of political/economic/social system do you devise for the future of the western world?

Capitalism is only going to self-combust in an atomic cloud.
Then we'll regress to feudalism - capitalism with kings.

it won't...want to see the future? observe the current Chinese and Russian hybrids for a clue...an all powerful central government which allows it's people some of the fruits of capitalism (materialism), while being a major stakeholder in the dispersal of the countries resources. showcase nationalist impulses and pride while misinforming the masses.
in short, keep the citizens seeking individual pleasures and they will not care too deeply about how they are ruled. the idea of a common good for all will fade away.

Laisez-faire capitalism has already self-combusted.
It failed for the last time in America during the Great Depression. What we have now is highly tuned and regulated capitalist economy with government programs and laws that protect citizens, consumers, and citizens from corporate fraud and help people work their way up.
Democrats level the playing field through education, job training, and New Deal programs like the GI Bill.

Take the next 10 years and go live in countries without capitalism and then come back and tell us which systems work the best so we'll know when it all 'combusts'.

For those who work hard, capitalism has led to the highest standard of living in the world. And our great health care system has led to the healthiest and most pampered people on earth. Even our lazy class benefits with a good standard of living due to capitalism providing tax money for free welfare checks and free health care and housing to the lazy breeders among us.

if the people wise up, capitalism with socialist programs, with as much freedom from govt control for the people as possible
if not, on our current course, we will have a few in power and every one else worker slaves

The fact that you know nothing of our western society, well, is blatant.
If you can find a gov't who was at war and didn't struggle a little bit, well, you can't it's not possible.
