Any other fans of one of the strangest writters I've ever read? His stuff's so off the wall. Not strongly based on Physical science, but still really gripping, fun ideas, all with a twist of fatalism.

I have been a fan since I first read Slaughterhouse Five - when it first came out. If you enjoy Vonnegut, try Christopher Moore. Not quite the same thing, but also hilariously funny.

My kids and I are die-hard fans of Vonnegut. Cat's Cradle quotes (the Calypsos of Bokonon) are used constantly. My daughter said they had dinner at their grandparents' house one Sunday after church, along with another girl. Grandpa asked what the sermon was about. The friend said, "We learned that we are all part of a big karass, and that Jesus is our wampeter." Grandpa was intrigued, to say the least. But then, "All of the true things that I am about to tell you are shameless lies."
