My dad passed away several years ago.. I was a daddy's girl and I am not over it yet..
so early on .. u need to take mom out to the cemetery if at all possible.. let her pay her respects. to him
then
u need to let her have her time to morn his passing..
for a day..
after than come on with the family.. have different relatives visit on different days.. she will feel loved, it will take her mind off of it..
and the more little kids that are well behaved.. always bring a smile..
talk and discuss the issue before the big day and dinner..
let her vent to u.. cry.. if necessary..
then explain u no it is hard for her..
but that this year.. u want her to be happy..
and let her know how much u love her and how grateful u are for her..
good luck,,, happy holidays.

Sorry for your loss. My dad passed away Dec. last year and we keep my mom busy by having the family around to keep her mind preoccupied.

Death is never easy particularly in a long and lasting relationship..
Keep the Family together, if you can, never leave your mother alone.
If there are grandchildren, that's even better, because they will always keep her active and busy.
