If the both computers are wi-fi ready, the wireless router is all you need. otherwise you'll need wireless adapters for your computer to be wi-fi compatible
Regarding to speed, it will have just minimal effect.

It doesn't matter what you get, your access speed to the net is the lowest common denominator. Being DSL, no telling what that is. Most wireless routers have a built in 10/100 switch in case you need a physical connection. These usually connect to your DSL via ethernet as well. Just change the SSID on the wireless router from the default, change the password to access it, and enable WPA or the security and configure your PCs with the same key. Also, turn off SSID broadcast. This is enough to stop most normal wannabe network light weights that would try to access your wireless.

Take them in order
1) Affect Speed?
Answer: No, DSL is slower then the router. DSL speed is
0.25 mega bits per second (256Kbps) to 3 Mb per second
Routers are 100 mega bits per second
Wireless Routers are 10 to 54 mega bits per second
2) Yes, only IF the 2nd computer has a wireless card. Laptops have wireless built-in while dekstop computers require a separate card to access wireless.
If you have not used wireless before.. be aware it takes more configuration to make it secure against other people access it and using your DSL for free (and possibly accessing files on your computer)
If you are buying a desktop computer which won't move around a lot...you can simply buy a 7ft to 14ft. network cable and physically plug the desktop computer into the back of the wireless router and VOILA! you should have internet for both.

You don't have to get wireless, unless you want to use wireless around the house, like on a laptop.
But a router (or hub, or switch) is required so that you can "split" the DSL traffic. Your speed will be reduced if multiple machines are busy at the same time, but honestly you probably won't notice it much. I've got 5 machines one one DSL connection, and the internet works fine on all of them.

A wireless router will NOT affect your DSL speed. but if you go wireless just make sure both other computers are wireless capable..meaning they have wireless cards of some kind. The speed of DSL is constant (or fairly constant depending on your provider) it's the bandwith that would "slow" it down, but with only two machines that certainly will not be a problem.
Good luck!

It doesn't mess up the speed. Or atleast it doesn't for mine.. unless someone is on the other one and we're both looking up a lot of stuff and like clicking constantly!! One of the computers will need a wireless internet card.. ( I had one added to my laptop so I could connect the router to my desktop and the wireless for it!)

It wont effect the speed noticably. Wireless is going to be a little slower but im talking fractions of seconds, nothing noticable.
You will need a wireless adapter in both computers but Im sure you knew that.
