Depends on the lion and the tiger. They are not all created the same. That said, the largest tigers usually weight around 270 kilograms (nearly 600 pounds). The largest lions only weight around 225 kilograms 500 pounds). They are about equally fast, so I am going to go with the tiger in this situation. But get a weaker tiger and a stronger lion, and it could go an entirely different way. And lions are more pack-oriented than tigers, so it is more likely that one tiger would have to contend with several lions, giving the lions the advantage. But one-on-one, the largest tiger wins against the largest lion.

Tiger are larger and heavier than lions. But there are two important facts here that are not being considered.

1. Male lions don't do very much hunting, they spend most of their time defending their pride (females and cubs) from competition, like hyenas, and from other male lions. Tigers do not have compete with each other so regularly. So, male lions have experience in fighting with other large felines that tigers lack.

2. Both lions and tigers are ambush predators that kill by severing their preys jugular and/or wind pipe. The mane of a male lion provides very good armor to that vulnerable area.

So, with those two things, I think the advantage goes to the lion, if we are talking about a male lion.

Tiger.

A tiger is bigger, heavier, and its agility is far better than a lion. Tiger is quicker, stronger and usually hunting solo on mountain like terrain unlike lions. Lions use teamwork on a flat prairie.

When you put, let's say, 20 lions vs 20 tigers... Lions are gonna probably win since their teamwork is great, but 1 on 1... It's a tiger....
