Why do you have sand in your basement, and why would you want to "take a blowtorch to it"??

Just get a bucket and take it out.

Invite a few friends over and have a bucket party. Use a few buckets to keep the sand moving to the outside of your house. (A bucket brigade) Spread the sand evenly around the yard or find a place that needs some clean fill. Then, get a few pizzas, some soda and/or beer to thank your friends with.

It might turn into glass... but I'm not sure, I've never blowtorched sand. I just know it turns to glass when it gets super hot.

Is there really sand in your basement?

You would have a warm pile of sand in your basement.

You would make a horrible mess, plus maybe burn your house down. How about getting a bucket, and carrying out the sand. Bucket by bucket. Think of the exercise you would get.

Just clean it up. If you take that torch to it then you will need a new torch a new leg a new arm a new head. Why not just clean it up. That would be a lot safer. What do you think?

You could just fill your basement with water, and make it like a huge beach!

You'd burn your house down before you turned it to glass.. I'd suggest a shop-vac and a bit of patience.

rather than use the torch on the sand, just open your mouth and point the torch at your face and all your problems will go away.
