do you send them out 1st and get them back excatley from the same people or get extras from some you forgot.

It almost always works that way. I love sending cards, usually each one homemade and unique. Even if I don't get a card in return, I am happy to touch others this way during the holidays.
But it's like calling someone. You wait and wait to see if they will get around to calling you first. Then you go ahead and call them (maybe with a chip on your shoulder) and they are so glad you did! There are many reasons, big and tiny, why people don't get around to sending you a thought, and I do not fault them. But if I wish to send a thought I make the first move. And yes, people will usually then send a card in return and add me to their list again. I love getting Christmas cards, and I display all of them in the house on lengths of string like garland.
Now, for those people you forgot who sent you a card: the wonderul thing about the holidays is just that - more than one holiday. If you get a Christmas card from someone you didn't send one to and it's too late to send them one in kind return, you have a great opportunity to send them a card for a bright New Year!

To be honest, I basically stopped sending Christmas cards because I was always forgetting someone. Sometimes the list of people just keeps growing until you become so stressed out about the cards and who to sent one to, that Christmas becomes less enjoyable. All who know me knows this about me. They take no offense to it, either. I do get cards from others but they know how I feel about the whole Christmas card "thing." I do send cards to all the close friends I know when it's there birthday or other special occasion.

I send a card to my dad and my uncle every year and never get one back. Apparently it's too much for them to spend .41 cents postage to send me one. Even so, I still send them one year after year.
Sometimes I do get a card from someone out of the blue that I wasn't expecting, like from my great aunt. I always end up sending those people a card as well after I receive theirs. Mostly though, I send and receive cards from the same people every year without fail.

People send me xmas cards and then I feel bad that I forgot them so I have to send them one back.

I sent them to people that I think deserve one. If they send one back that's fine by me. I just send them to get in the holiday spirit

I keep a list & should have them out already & sometimes i do get people i forget but how lol i dont know!

We keep the envelopes from last year plus who meet through out the yearvthat's how we do it

I always forget someone.And it does help to send one to get one.I try my best to remember everyone.
