Why do Americans fear this threat of terrorist? Terrorist have existed long before 911.?

We have the most advanced military in the world by far. So why do we believe he hype?

Yes terrorist are using new tactics that were outline in the early 1900s in the small war manual. Guerrilla tactics are there only offensive ability so why do we continue to build a bigger standing army? They did not have planes long ago but long ago we did not occupy their holy lands, controll their oil, and use our power to get in the middle of their civil wars.

The statement that 9/11 changed everything is completely false. The terrorist attacks of that day did not change any reality, they only changed our perception of reality. They had attack us before (even trying to bring down the same buildings in 1993 not to mention the embassy bombings in Africa and the USS Cole tragedy). While there is a lot of hype, there is also a real threat. Even the most advanced military can do little to stop people who use unconventional tactics. If you don't believe me, ask the British why they don't still control the colonies. I'm not comparing the American revolutionaries to Muslim extremist, only pointing out that there are certain things which standing armies cannot combat well. That's why we have our intelligence community. They are much more effective.

I think what your forgetting is the Nature of the terrorist attacks, Before it was an attack here and an attack there and has always been overseas until 1992 1st world trade center attack. Now you have a terrorist group the proclaims to have waged war on the US. No terror group has come out and said they are waging war against us. Before it was always an attack in a response because we didn't set someone free etc.. now. It does not matter. The Terrorist sole purpose is to Kill Americans.They don't want us out of Muslim countries because that won't change anything. The American Government is not fearing the threats and the things the terrorist are doing but any country not only American country do not like that terrorism will reign., in any part of the world. Terrorism is not good and not advisable in every country who want peace with loving citizens.Eany country do not want terrorism. They do want peace for every nation.
