Is a wife (or husband) worth all the maintenance?

Well, if you can find a good one then yes. Nobody will be perfect and every relationship needs work...But I think it's all worth it. There is something very awesome about being with one person and being committed to them.

Wouldn't trade her for anything. If it weren't for her I wouldn't be here today. I'm the one who had to have the maintenance more than her.

Doesn't seem to be...but I think a lot of people marry for reasons other than love/compatibility (ie biological clock ticking, income levels, sheer desperation)

For a little while, it is. Then, after about a year, it's just a lot of noise and mess, and divorce is the only way to fix it.

If you love someone it's not maintenance .You give to your mate because you want them to be happy.

I often wonder the same thing. Having a longtime partner who you don't actually live with sounds just fine.

I guess it would depend on what spouse you end up with in life. I am NOT marriagable tho...
