Up until Thursday it was the war, but since Congress Murtha pulled out the rug on the Democrats by saying "the surge is working".
This week the Democrats will come out swinging saying "restoring the American dream for millions of our nation’s working families has been the central priority".
So they will use the economy as their number one priority, since they can't use the war anymore.

Well, they have essentially run out of ammo which will leave them to resort to "eating each other"...I think we'll see not only partisan slander ad naseum but intra party self destruction and end fighting. It should be amusing to say the least.

If anybody has a brain in that operation the elections with Putin in Russia & Venezuela as Chavez plays mini me to Castro. SO I expect nothing will get done except Pelosi will continue to say she will not accept a war? AS if she was Queen, Hillary will avoid the hostage thing like the plague, Bill shall be deported after his baffo in Iowa. The political ads will be brutal. And assaults more violent. On and off stage. It's coming. Focus? Deflect & damage control. Bush still at 36 % approval Congress 26 % More It is Bush fault we can not pass a bill... lol if only pigs flew!

To answer it, I don't honestly know
They cannot focus on supporting our troops, they haven't passed funds for them.
They cannot focus on helping the middle class, they want to repeal GWB tax cuts that would remove the middle class tax cut, the tax cuts for small business, and the child tax credit, also brings back the inheritance tax that has destroyed small business and family farms for decades.
The cannot focus on returning to a fiscal budget, their budget for 08 sent to Bush is the largest in US history with huge amounts spent on pork barrel projects.
They cannot focus on doing the peoples work, they have gave themselves a pay raise while shortening their work week to four working days while in session.

Good question. It will be interesting to see what they do now. They will have a hard time with the economy with all the socialism and taxes they are proposing.

I think it will be sympathy for the Cllinton hostage situation....sympathy from the people may swing some votes their way.
