Originality of the song is certainly my qualification, for example it is fine for new punk bands to use similar structure to the classic songs (if there were any good new punk bands) but having something new and interesting to do with it is what really makes it something more than a blatant rip-off. For example: the exploited suck, they sound like every hardcore band from the 80s and sing about the exact same subjects, in essence they maintain the status quo of a dead scene. I can't stand Pink Floyd so I can't listen to the two songs you have up to offer my 2 cents, but does Porcupine Tree do something interesting and different with their song? Or is it "The Embryo" in new packaging from a new band in a soulless attempt to pick up someones 15 hard earned bucks?

This happened to me when I was younger. Make sure you clean the nail bed very well and keep it clean. You might want to put some antibiotic ointment and a bandage on it to keep it clean. It most likely will grow back, mine did, although it takes awhile. You will have to watch out that it doesn't get ingrown as it is growing back in. Hope this helps!
