I'm talking about the small towns, weather, school, and stuff like that.

Small towns are very small! :) I'm talking no stop lights, pretty much nothing but a few churches! Schools for the most part are not on par with some other states. Many can be pretty run down looking, too. There are very nice/great schools. But as someone who has been in schools (including poor inner city) in multiple states, they are not as nice as a whole.
Weather? Right now we are in a severe drought, and they are about to close all buisinesses that do not reuse/recycle their water (like car washes). Raliegh only has like 4 weeks of water left. But, normally, the precipitation is moderate. The summers can be super hot. Like 90-100 in July and August. There were only like one or two days this last August that were under 90. Moderate humidity. Winter temps are in the 40-50 range. Yesterday was like 65.

The small towns in Western North Carolina are wonderful. I live in a small town in the Smoky Mountains of WNC. I love it. I moved here from Wisconsin. The winters are much milder here and the summers are actually a little cooler.

Can't beat it.

I've been down there many times, and always liked it.
The weather is relatively mild and most areas have good schools. One place which is growing fast is Concord, so they have quite a few jobs available.
