The 3 rings lost their powers after The One Ring was destroyed. The ring of adamant (Nenya) was with Lady Galadriel, the ring of fire (Narya) was with Gandalf (given to him by Cirdan) and the ring of water made of sapphire was with Lord Elrond. These were brought with them to Undying Lands.
Of the dwarves' rings. Some were destroyed by dragons, some were recovered by Sauron. It was believed to have been destroyed or their powers lost after his ring was destroyed.
Of the 9 rings of the Nazgul, they perished when their masters perished.
Read The Silmarillion, too for further reading.

This was explained in the Lord of the Rings (I believe during the council of Elrond).
The three rings of the elves were still in the possession of the Elves (Galadriel has one, Elrond has one and Gandalf has the third)
The nine were given to mortal men who were turned into the nine ring wraiths (hence the name)
The seven of the dwarves go like this: Three were consumed by dragon flame and the other four are in the hands of Sauron. He used them to try and get the dwarves to tell him how to find Baggins (which is why Gimli and Gloin went to Rivendell in the book).
I think that just about covers all of them.

Of course there were things left out of the movie. No one would want to see a movie that was 8 hours long or more! I have read the books many times over and I must say I was rather pleased with the movies. Jackson did a great job. The only thing I was upset about in the movie was the casting. I was not happy with the Matrix guy as Elrond and I was not happy with Liv Tyler as Arwen. Overall though, I thought the movies were great, couldnt have been better, but could have been a lot worse! And yes, the books are always better. One other suggestion; you should waste less time getting angry over trivial things like this and focus your energy on ones that matter, like poverty, literacy, or world hunger or a million other things that could use help and publicity.

The Three Rings went with their owners (Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf) over the Sundering Seas to Valinor.
The Seven Dwarven rings were lost in various ways: four were destroyed by dragons and the other three were taken by Sauron, who attempted to use one of them as a bribe to get the Dwarves to hand over Bilbo. The Dwarves refused the bribe and as a result, they went to the Council of Elrond.
The Nine Rings were kept by the Ringwraiths, and when the Ringwraiths were destroyed, it's assumed that their rings were destroyed as well.

The three rings which are vilya, narya, and nenya have passed away across the sea with their bearers. Galadriel told frodo that the three rings MIGHT lose their powers and all the things they built with the three (mainly: the refugee camp revindell, the forest of lorien, and the hopes of men with narya and gandalf) would fade as time will come to it and it will pass away. It is quite unclear if the three did lose their power because they were never touched by Sauron. But it is accepted that the three went away with their bearer.
The 7 dwarven rings and their ring bearers resisted sauron's will. But they became greedy for gold and silver and jewels. When Sauron asked them for the rings, they did not give it to him. Apparently one of the dragons fought with the bearers of the three dwarven rings and consumed them. The remaining were taken by sauron forcefully from the dwarfs.
THe nine rings apparently were taken by sauron when their bearers succumbed to the one ring.

The One Ring was cast into Mt. Doom by Frodo with the help of Sam Gamgee.
The rings of the Elves evidently lost power, and that may have been one reason why they left Middle Earth.
The rings of the dwarves -- who knows? The rings of men were destroyed with the Ring Wraithes.

I never read them but there's quite a few books pertaining to the extended history and mythology of the LOTR series including the Silmarillion and The Histories of Middle Earth. Perhaps it's in there?

I think they were destroyed. Something to do with people trying to get Sauran's ring to weaken. I think the goodies destroyed it because they didn't like the power of the rings
