At the risk of you deciding I'm a moron because I took the time to answer your question.
I live in Michigan and hate winter, but I have some valid reasons to stay here.
1. My husband's family lives here, and we want to be close to them.
2. It is too difficult to sell our house, because of the economy (several houses for sale for over a year in my neighborhood).
3. I have a daughter who is a junior in high school and doesn't want to move
4. My husband owns a business that is situated here and it would mean an expensive start up and licensing requirements, etc are not always simple to obtain in a different state.
5. There may not be suitable employment in a warmer climate.
6. The cost of living may make it too expensive to move. A similar house may cost 2 to 3 times more and the same with food and other cost of living items. So it may not be financially feasible to move.
7. Warmer climates often are more crowded. Ever take a look at Southern California highways?
8. Although weather may be a factor, there are other issues in a different climate that may make it less desirable.
Do you still consider someone who has thought this issue through a moron????

I know a guy that moved here to the high desert, and he is allergic to the sun, (he says) he doesn't go out during the day.
How weird
He actually looks like a troll.
All he talks about is how much he prefers going back up to the great lakes, I offered to pay his way, he wont go back.
