Most American Indian Nations believed in a spiritual entity of supreme exaltation, such as Manitou, but revered the natural elements of the earth, giving respect to Mother Earth and all the creatures provided for man's enjoyment.

Christianity made a dent in that belief system, but there are still many American Indians holding to the tradition of their fathers where religion is concerned.

At a period of time, somewhere around 600 B.C., the peoples had a strong conviction of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but through the wickedness that prevailed through the centuries, they fell away from the teachings of the Gospel of Christ and perverted their beliefs into what it is today.
