Yeah, and isn't that just the most distressing moment?
As a kid, the first time I went to camp, we had such a long and full opening day. By bedtime, I was entirely exhausted. Early the next morning, as I have always done, I awoke before dawn. The bed felt strange. The smells were odd, and when I peered about in the dark, nothing was recognizable. For a while absolute terror took charge, until the realization finally crept in. What a RELIEF!
As for some of the times as a grown-up, well, let's just say waking up early in the morning turned out to be a blessing more than ONCE. Last time that happened, I had to recall a certain someone's name from the monograms on the bathroom towels ...

Not in the sense of being somewhere strange... I have woken up on the floor of my own room with no memory of getting home, apparently going on the computer (how else would the illegible msn conversations be on my screen when I woke up?), putting socks on (I was NOT wearing socks when I went out) or falling asleep on the rug beside my bed.

Yes, I was at school one day and the teacher had left the room and one of my classmates said he could make me pass out by me taking 10 deep breaths, crossing my arms, and let him push me up against the wall. I passed out and when I woke up I wondered what was so cold on the side of my face and why all these people were in my room. In a few seconds I remembered everything. It was kind of freaky!!!

yeah. i fainted in p.e and then i woke up under the water fountain. it was really gross under there.
