There is scientific evidence to support this assertion. Women (generalizing) are historically comfort, security and moderation seekers. (they 'play it safe')They can be effective leaders. However, when there is a need for bold action which may require a calculated loss of life, a 'safe' decision may be the wrong one. To summarize, women are much more 'risk adverse' than men. This is contrary to strong leadership at certain times.

Update: Look at all the drivel pouring out below...every response serves to confirm my assertions, thanks, you don't seem to like the truth....I encourage all to research the psychology of my assertions, there are exceptions to every rule. Every citation below is of the exception, not the rule.

Humm actually I think (in spite of many historical female leaders that have already been mentioned here) given the nature of the society we live in, you could argue that women are too *diplomatic* or *co-operative* to make effective, popular leaders... I mean if what political office or business leadership demands these days is behaving completely insensitively, riding roughshod over little people, being ruthless, driven and fiercely competitive, being prepared to hide your mistakes and overemphasise the importance of your achievements... See where I'm going with this?

NB "rushing into things like a man would..." Spare me the generalisations, puh-lease! (I thought carefully before deciding to mention that one).

Brr it's ******** freezing here, I cannot type much more!

I know very few women who scare easily. I certainly don't.

Also, keep in mind that women are "expected" to be scared more easily. Oftentimes, when a woman acts scared, she's just playing a role she's been taught to play, and is not inherently more fearful than any man.

Further, what kinds of things typically scare women, and how would that play a role in modern leadership? If I am more fearful of spiders than a man, that doesn't mean he will make a better president than me. After all, presidents probably don't encounter many spiders. Anyway, modern leadership is less about courageousness and more about cleverness, diplomacy, competence, tact, and charm...and women can do all of those things just fine.

I was going to do a vision quest where you go out by yourself for 4 days and nights...no food, no water, no sleep. No distractions except for you and Creator...where I was being "put up" was a wooded area where there was mt. lions, and other predatory animals...I asked the person putting me up if being scared made me a coward...He asked if I intended to do the vision quest regardless of my fears...I told him yes...he then replied that that is an act of courage...
If you think that being brave means that there is no fear then you are a fool
There have been many women world leaders and it is found that they are compassionate and courageous...and yet you talk about women as though you had no mother that guided you

Women are more Dominant then submissive ,and being fearful is a good thing as it makes u hesotate and think things though instead of rushing into things like a man would.

courage isnt the absent of fear but how you handle the fear you have.look at Cleopatra and Elizabeth I they both ruled with courage in a time when women were thought of as weak and incomptent. yet they are known some of the best rulers throughout history. there have also been women leaders who led troops into battle and fought and won wars.

What constitutes being a "bold leader"? Getting this country involved in another country's civil war without any real planning or exit strategy? Continually throwing money at this conflict that could have been better used to build up schools and roads? I will greatly respect our next president if he or she can get us out of this mess even if that person doesn't seem bold or is adverse to risk taking.

that's high-quality if woman is a frontrunner as long as she does not do any undesirable stuff, and the explanation why the Persians went against Chosroe's daughter is by means of the fact decrease back then, Persia became so proud and of path as you realize, human beings concept adult adult males have been greater clever than woman, so sure they went against a woman as a frontrunner, no longer reason for faith, in all probability because of the fact of delight.

I know knowledge and history is a stretch for you, given the way you punctuate and the ridiculous question you have asked, but do a little research about Queen Elizabeth I, the most powerful ruler England has ever had. While you're at it, check out Catherine the Great and Queen Victoria, as well. Presuming you can read.

Just because men don't say they are scared doesn't mean they aren't. Have you ever read the journals of women who were left home with the children when their husbands went to fight in the civil or revolutionary war. These women were left to provide for their family as well as take on the physical and protection tasks that were seen as "men's roles." These woman were in situations were they had to pick up a gun and protect their family. I am sure they were scared but it doesn't mean they were not effective. I am sure at some point in your family history you owe thanks to a woman who was courageous in a bad situation.
