I wake up before everyone, assuming I've gone to sleep at all, for watching 24 hours of "A Christmas Story"...make coffee, and possibly contemplate making pancakes from scratch and scrambled cheese eggs for every one...
Finally around 6 am, I can't wait anymore, and I will drag my daughter out of bed. I tell my man I want him to get up now. He'll snore and mutter something unintelligible and then snore a little louder. My daughter will say, "But mommy, I still wanna sleep!"
"COME ON, HONEY! WAKE UP! It's CHRISTMAS!!!"
So, she'll groggily come down stairs with me, and brighten up when she sees her presents, and go fall asleep on the couch for a little while...
Okay. Eventually everyone wakes up, and I'll be in the living room buzzed out of my mind because I've started on my second pot of coffee before my mother has even had her first, and I'll be talking everyone's ear off.
We eat, maybe drink, eat a bit more, drink a little more, chat, watch movies, maybe play some Trivial Pursuit...
At least this is what the last two years have been...

You asked for it.
1. Sleep in late now that I do not live with my little sisters who used to wake me up at 4am because my parents were smart and locked their bedroom door.
2. get the phone call at noon from my dad asking where the h_ll are you everyones waiting.
3. drive on over to my brothers house and try to find a parking spot because we are a big family( I end up down the street where I was better off if I walked instead of drove in the first place)
4. Listen to everyone greet me with the usual you are finaily here, why did you not bring anyone?, pretty girl like you should not live alone, you are not getting any younger and so on and on and on the list is incredibley long.
5. we eat! and No I still do not get to sit at the adult table. Answer me this why is it that because you have no husband or children they put you with the children table that it might be good for you?
6. open gifts in the order from youngest to oldest member of the family, now that a few more of my siblings are married and have kids this takes forever and of course I get the inevitable joke gift of some book or another that is titled how to meet the perfect mate or something like that everone laughs.
7. kids are_______( fill it in fighting, crying, yelling .....), my brothers are on-line checking if the electronic thingamagig they got my dad is the most up to date, my sisters are in the kicten talking wife stuff and my mom sits down with me in the living room and starts in on the seeing any one new interogation(KILL me NOW)
8. Just as I am to the point of siting in the corner eating my own hair dad wants to go to the gambling boat I am already in the car waiting before he finishes the question, we are gone for a few hours(we always lose but have a great time)
9. we return, Iti is time to bid the family good by I am buried in take home food because they believe I do not eat enough.
10. exit with the promise yes, I will be over for new year
