I was reading Cosmo earlier, and they had a little blurp about E.L.F cosmetics... they're only a dollar??

I went to their website to check them out but they don't seem like they are a company that's at all out of the ordinary.

Are these products any good? Are they long lasting? Do they cause breakouts? I have had experience with cheap products before and been quite pleased with the fact that they were usuable despite being only a dollar, however I am a little wary of trying them out.

Also, if you recieved something like this as a gift, what would your response be? I was thinking of purchasing some of the products for my 12-year-old sister who is just beginning to discover makeup, and possibly as stocking stuffers for friends in addition to other gifts.

I have tried them, and they are definitely not the highest quality-- but they work for the low price! My suggestion would be to get just a few basic things (lip gloss, eyeshadow) Your little sister would love it. When I first started using make-up, my older sister got me a bunch of stuff for my birthday, and I held on to the stuff for years :)

The products didn't cause me breakouts, and I have really sensitive skin. Not the longest-lasting, but you take what you get. Go for it and try them out.

I discovered ELF products at Walmart and bought one of their lip glosses. It works pretty good, slicks on nicely and shiny, but the color isn't all that great -- it's not high on pigment, so if you get like the dark pink one it seems to be more clear or light pink. But you get what you pay for..if I got it for a gift I'd be happy cos hey, it's makeup!!

Work like a charm! BUT: let me warn you, they don't work for everyone. Certain oils may cause pimples and irritation on certain skin types. Before using all over, sample on a small bit of unseen skin on your neck or face, wait 20 minutes, and if there is no reaction, go for it! If there is a reaction, wash it off immediately.

i use elf products religiously. they are cheap and get the job done. a few of my favorites are the lip gloss, the mascara, and the oil blotting sheets(which you use when you have oilyer skin). if i were you i would try them.worst case if you dont like it.it was only a dollar.good luck!

Be sure to check the expiration dates so they are not selling you really old stuff. Quality is affected by how old it is.
