I got a violation for the very same thing yesterday. I definitely asked a question. Will I appeal? No. It is a waste of time unless you align yourself with the politics of YA employees.

I have mixed feelings about the rule.
I have seen many questions that were poorly written, yet the addition information provided supportive information for a very interesting question. Yet, when I went to submit my answer, the question had been deleted by Yahoo.
However we all seen questions and answers that are just plain chatty in nature.
For example,
Who do you support for the next President of the United States?
Do you think President Bush is "xyz"?
Do you think.....?
Just how will the questioner pick the best correct answer?
And we all have seen the answer--"I don't know, but thanks for the two points"
I believe we all can support that these events are just a waste of time, yahoo resources, and not the intent of yahoo to provide this site.
I am also concern about the fact that it appears some users are "slammed" by a group of individuals for violations committed to silencing a user. I may be wrong, but I do not believe anyone is warned that a violation was been reported and what was reported and their logic on accepting the violation report as being factual.

Frankly, I am in DISAGREEMENT with many of YA's "violations " policies... especially those which are SUBJECTIVE in nature... i.e. rudeness, insults, "hate speech," and "hurtful words." Whatever happened to "Sticks and stones may break my bones but WORDS will never HURT me"???
As for vulgarity and bad language, that is less subjective and more clear-cut, and so reporting those is easier, and SHOULD be reported.
But many times, there are bottom-feeders who will report people for simply disagreeing with them. That should not be a violation, no matter how strongly worded the disagreement (sans vulgarity!). Hell.... I got reported for my answer to some racist question with, "Can't we all just GET ALONG?" and THAT was REPORTED!!!
As for "it's not a question" or "it's not an answer"... I have mixed feelings about that. WHAT does it hurt to have a little RANT now and then??? But when someone answers with something like just a period [ "." ]... that is certainly NOT any sort of answer.
It is a flawed system, and needs revisions for sure.
Have a right-wing day.

It drives me nuts, because of the fact as you mentioned in case you do have a query approximately an certainly being pregnant, it gets buried below a flurry of "Am I pregnant?" questions. i think of it reflects the two a prefer to be pregnant or concern or being pregnant on the asker's area. And sure i'm no longer able to stand it whilst human beings answer some desperately hopeful person ttc with "congrats, hun, you're pregnant!' because of the fact maximum individuals comprehend what its decide to relatively relatively choose a newborn and that i think of its undesirable to assist inflate somebody's hopes even farther whilst purely a being pregnant try can tell them the respond.

I just visit here from time to time so I am not sure-based on your question-what was the violation EXACTLY (content of the "Not a question or answer") that caused the violation? To know that would help to evaluate the situation better.

I've had to protest a few. I have also reported a few. I reported one last night supposedly from a 9 year old girl asking if she should have sex with her 12 year old boyfriend. Did it get deleted and/or removed? Nope. At least it should have been looked into though. There's something really wrong with that.

It doesn't seem fair since all a questioner has to do when asking is hang a question mark at the end of their statement or rant to make it legal in the eyes of Y/A.

Yes... I've protested such a violation.... Basically I was told that If one thought that the question was bad one should report it... and once one answered a question he is then held to the rules.... they didn't say "no matter how silly or inane they are" But that was implied.

If you write "I dont know" as an answer, should you get two points for it? Or a "Best Answer"?
Of course not. There are people in here RIGHT NOW who spend all day just typing "IDK" to every question they "answer". It's called "Point Gaming" and it is against the TOS. It wastes time, it clogs the system and it uses resources for bogus answrs which have no business in Y/A.
Further, just because someone reports you doesn't mean your answer will be removed. If you are NOT in violation of the TOS, Yahoo will NOT remove your answer, under any circumstances.
Seems pretty clear, follow the rules and your answer won't be removed, no matter HOW many people "violate you". Is this too difficult a concept to understand?
