Who are the best singer/ songwriters ever? I think Patrice Rushen is the forerunner to Alicia Keys. Opinions?

wow...good call on Patrice.a lot of people slept on her.she was always one of the best song writers.loved her music.she also is a underrated musician.

Well, as far as pairs go, I would say you're right. Patrice Rushen started where Alicia Keys is going right now. But as far as most popular, award winning artists, I think it would be a tie between Roberta Flack and Holland & Dozier. However, ALL the people you listed are awesome!
