not just in the NHL but i noticed that in the AAA and banton B class and even in pee wee hockey.does it have something to do with the cold or what.and do not go junping all over this question and say it's racist because i not not think that it is.

It comes down to money. My son was in an upper middle class league and the home ice was in Lawrence. Lawrence is a poor immigrant community. 4 or 5 of the well to do communities play at the Lawrence ring, yet there isn't a Lawrence hockey team. It's because the cost to rent the ice, buy the uniform is expensive. It's approximately $2000/year. Not a lot of middle class families can afford that.

According to the wayans (sp) brothers a bunch of drunk white guys carrying sticks and beating a black puck isn't good for the average black man. But really I think white people are the only people who play hockey. So this question could be focused at others. Though I'm pretty sure you are just being a troll again.

It takes money and lots of it to play ice hockey. Not only blacks, but even whites who are poor cannot afford to play year in and year out. I know there are things people can do like sell raffles and other stuff to raise money, but in general it cost too much for most families.

Well 1st only whites play hockey. I don't see asians or browns, natives playing hockey people like to target blacks. Second its not the cold. I live in Canada.

Hockey does not pay as well as the other sports. My husband says that may be part of the reason. Not saying it is just blacks they dont pay anyone good money. And he says they have big dentist bills from getting their teeth knocked out.
