well you should distribure the -4
4x-12=16
next ad 12 to each side
4x=28
Devide by 4
x=28/4
so
x=7
Ok here is the Check
-4(-7+3)=16
add -7 to 3
-4(-4)=16
multply -4*-4
16=16
that means that it works so x is 7
