I saw in stores their display laptops don't have batteries installed but still run, i was wondering does my laptop work if i took out its battery but plugged it in to a power outlet? I don't want to try it firsthand cuz I might damage by unit.

The laptop AC adapter performs TWO functions, that is, powering the unit and charging the battery.

Yes, this does work. The batteries only hold electricty for when they are ready to use. But when you take out a battery..and plug it in, it will work...it won't though if it isn't...lol
hope..you understand what i am saying
