You need to get on the phone with both companies. The new policy could consider your pregnancy a "pre-existing condition" and not cover you because you conceived before you were their client. My policy said it covered maternity, but prenatal visits were covered only if they GLOBAL BILL. they call it "global billing" when your entire pregnancy is billed upon delivery - all the office visits included. The problem with global billing is if you switch companies mid-pregnancy, who pays? I decided not to enroll in my new job's medical insurance until my baby is born, even though its costing me an extra $900 in premiums. I figure I'll have to pay my deductibles over again if I switch now, plus the hassle of fighting them for reimbursement when the first company BCBS tries to get the second company Aetna to pay for the entire pregnancy. The birth of a baby is a qualifying event so you can add yourself and your baby to your husband's insurance when the baby is born. If you are able to continue to pay out of pocket for the policy you have now, you will avoid making that ugly transition between companies and having to fight for every penny.

You don't have to wait to get the cards to use the insurance. The policy should cover pregnancy, especially when working for the government. If you have insurance now and then he goes right to the next job with insurance you won't have any lack of coverage. This means that the pregnancy won't be a pre existing condition because you had insurance previously.

You dont need the cards to go to the doctors. You call the insurance company and get your ID number and give them that. Or simply defer the payments of the doctors until your insurance starts and have it cover those visits retroactively (call the provider first and work it out.)

In most cases though, if you are already pregnant and you're husband is switching insurance they wont cover you as they consider it a pre-existing condition.

you will get carry of a gaggle of letters out of your adjuster concerning this declare, and maximum of them are merely formality, to maintain you counseled. until it became a considerable accident and there are considerable injuries, i don't think of you have something to fret approximately and you do have magnificent actual harm coverage. evaluate those issues: -the wear to the two autos, minor, average, considerable? the two of the autos an entire loss? -injuries: all and sundry taken away in an ambulance? hospitalized? have been you injured? If the different events are basically claiming tender tissue injuries(ie sore neck, back) despite the fact that in the event that they flow out and get an lawyer and/or seek for scientific look after months, they wont be getting a lot, properly a minimum of not everywhere on the edge of exceeding your coverage limits, somewhat if the damages are minor. many human beings quickly think of they like criminal experts to symbolize them no remember how minor or severe their injuries are, yet they don't seem to be needed. you do not prefer an lawyer, your coverage company will settle the declare with the different events. For now, do not hassle approximately it, call your adjuster in case you nonetheless have questions or to be certain the prestige of the declare. terrific element you're able to do now's merely wait and notice, harm claims can take a little time to settle, merely relies upon on the severity of the injuries. yet have faith me, until they have broken bones are interior the scientific institution, your coverage limits should not be a controversy.

If they don't cover you, you can get insurance that is paid for by your state, medicaid or medicare, you can get information on these programs through your local health department. That way you will have coverage as soon as possible so you can get to the doctor and be seen. Good Luck and Congrats!

it usually doesn't take three months to get the cards, but just in case it does.... i would suggest keeping the insurence that you have now, just until the other one kicks in, and if he is working for the goverment it should cover pregnancy. good luck and congratulations.
