I live in Texas.
I am a Republican in that I always vote and do not vote for Democrats (at least I have never found one I could vote for as yet). I would not be opposed to a independent candidate however (at least not on the face of it).

I am very conservative on social issues, and I would only vote for a person that represented my views on those issues (at least partially...but certainly not one in opposition to those views).

The present Republicans do not believe in the physical universe--they think the world is a special creation put there for them to abuse. They believe in an infallible divinely-inspired leader who issues public orders to everyone else, who are not allowed to think, only obey "laws"--meaning benevolent dictates. That's statism. It is totalitarian and unreal; and I can't accept it.

The present Democrats believe in the physical universe--but not in the individual human mind. So they believe their
leader should issue (fallible) public-interest orders that everyone must sacrifice himself to help those most "in
need"--regardless of how these unfortunates got to be that way. That's totalitarian altruistic statism or socialism, which is unreal; and I can't accept it.

So, yes, I'm something other than these. It's called an American. I believe in physical reality, whatever works in reality (realism), and the method of thinking that causes a person to know what to do in reality (science, mastering category-level definition).

It's called "objectivism"--1. checking one's ideas back against reality, 2. keeping religious beliefs about an afterlife out of constitutional law and politics; and 3. recognizing all responsible adult selves as having necessary rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of categorically-defined values as their happiness that the government holds power solely to secure to them, not to take away.

Yes I'm something else. I live in California, but I was born a New Yorker.

as far as parties i am in no way affiliated with any of them.....would that make me independent? i guess it would....as far as politics....call me a liberal conservative.....conservative to be sure, but not to the point of being unreasonable and ignoring some things that are just common sense.....like knowing the difference between opposing licenses for illegal immigrants......and opposing more taxes for big business.....the first i can get behind, the second i can't.....the ones who are hardcore left and right are the ones who are killing this country right now and unfortunately the ones in power....the more middle of the road common sense people we can put into office, the faster the recovery of this country is going to be.....but given the current crop of candidates, it may not happen in my lifetime lol.....

Northern KY (right outside Cincinnati)
34/F

Was Independent, but I registered Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries (we are a closed state).

BUT....I will be going back to Independent once these elections are over. That (R) next to my name makes me feel dirty.

EDIT TO ADD----

I am not loyal to any party. I vote for who I think is the best man/woman for the job.
