analzyethe style of language that Stossel employs to engage his reader's attention. Address why that style was employed.

Guns are dangerous. But myths are dangerous too. Myths about guns are very dangerous because they lead to bad laws. And bad laws kill people. " Don't tell me this bill will not make a difference, "President Clinton, who signed the Brady Bill into law.

Sorry. Even the federal government can't say it has made a difference. The Centers for Disease Control did and extensive review of various types of gun control: waiting periods, registration and licensing and bans on certain firearms. It found that th idea that gun control laws have reduced violent crime is simply a myth.

As I recall from an effective communication class years ago, that would be a persuasive style. He's attempting to sway his audience to a particular way of thinking.

First of all Stossel is a libertarian, He talks about how most of the hate he gets is from liberals. Liberal groups were demanding for FOX to fire him a few months ago because he defended Rand Pauls comments on civil rights. 2nd, liberals ignore reality, they ignore that both DC and Chicago had gun bans and the crime went up. They were even talking about putting national guard on the streets because it became so bad. North Korea has gun bans, Mexico has gun bans, the UK has gun bans and they have mass shooting from time to time just like us, look up Derrick Bird if you don't believe me. The UK also has more stabbings than the US has shootings. Some nut in a European country that has gun bans, dressed up like the joker and went on a stabbing spree at a day care, killing and maiming kids and mothers, they were all disarmed by the government so he had free reign and was picked up buy the police after he was done.

Yes it is a total myth. The only thing that gun control does is take away the rights of law abiding people. If guns were banned right now you could still get them and it would only make criminals out of otherwise law abiding people. Look at the drug laws. Pot has been illegal for a very long time now but you can still get that stuff easy enough if you want it.
When Government tries to take away our guns, that will be the first step to a dictatorship and the enslavement of the population.

well the fact is, in my opinion and from what information i have gathered that either side can cook the books to lean towards their stance on gun control!!!

but in my opinion, there is no friggin way that if there was to be stricter gun controls that would do any good, that this would just be another feel-good law that could never be enforced!!!

law or no law, a criminal is not going to give up his or her gun just because it is against the law!!!

why cant people get this fact into their noggins??!!

i see a lot of anwswerers about marijuana, perscription drugs,
illegal immigrants, they say "because its against the law"!!!

there are so many people out there that live in the real world that say: "big friggin deal"!!!

in other words, they will deal with that when it happens!!!

plus there are a lot of veterans and older people who are not going to give up their right to bear arms, laws or no laws!!!

it has been documented that states that have the "conceal carry laws" that their is less gun violence!!!

if a criminal is gonna set out to commit a crime with a gun they will get a gun and commit the crime!!!

i think if their might be a citizen with a registered gun, with a safety course certified permit and was qualified with the conceal carry laws around during the crime, ther might be a chance of stopping that crimminal from hurting anyone!!!

plus in the real world cops know that they are there after the fact, thats just the way it is, and most of them would prefer if we knew how to protect ourselves!!!
