Yes, you are allowed to wait until it clears, however, if the buyer has a positive feedback rating, it's typically polite to trust them, that their payment WILL clear.

The rating system is designed for just that purpose actually. If someone bought something from you, and they have a rating of 20 or higher, i'd say go ahead and ship the item asap.

This happens when they have not renewed their bank details after the card has expired. Instead of zooming straight through, the payment becomes an ebay cheque, which takes many days to clear.

By the time you've contacted the buyer and they cancel the payment and post a regular cheque, you won't have saved much time; so my suggestion is you just sit and wait. Contact the buyer and tell them why the delivery is being delayed, in case they get shirty. Communication always helps.

Yes, dont send the item till you get paid. Send the buyer an email and tell them how long it will be so they wont leave negative feedback.

l sell many items through ebay and some are similar to your problem - l always look to see their feedback score.
it is over 100 and 100% l send it anyway as it is a good sign they are trustworthy

l have never had one bounce and it does good for your ebay reputation too

Yes, I presume they have paid by echeque which is similar to a cheque and can still bounce. It happened when i sold something the other week. Wait until it shows in your paypal account.

Yes, if you send the item, and the check bounces, you are out the merchandise and money.
