A rectangle has sides of
3x – 4 and x + 6. Find the expression that represents its perimeter.

P = 2(3x - 4) + 2(x + 6)
P = 6x - 8 + 2x + 12
P = 8x + 4

The perimeter of a rectangle: P= 2L + 2W

L = 3x - 4
W = x+ 6

Now

P= 2(3x - 4) + 2(x + 6)

P= 6x - 8 + 2x + 12

P= 8x + 4.......simplify:

P= 4(2x +1)
