I read on cubs.com from Jim or Lou (I can't remember which) was pretty happy with our starters and don't be surprised if we don't have any changes come spring training...WTF!!! Do they think that Big Z can pitch every game? They were aware of the problem this fall when they had Ted and Carlos pitching on three days' rest. I'm glad that they agree we need a left handed power hitter but they are crazy if they don't see that we need another starter.

I would like to see us go after him too, but quite frankly I don't think we have the players to match the Red Sox or Yankees offers. In Chicago, us fans have forever had a problem with overvaluing our prospects. Just because we think Eric Patterson might turn out to be good doesn't mean other organizations value him the same way. And then when it becomes obvious that our prospects don't match up, us fans try to think of a trade using our might miss prospects and some junk we don't want anymore thinking that the other team's GM is stupid and won't know that Ryan Dempster, Jason Marquis, and Eric Patterson for Santana is a completely lopsided trade, even if we throw in Ronny Cedeno to sweeten the deal. The only time a trade like that would work is for an immediate payroll dump. The Twins are in the position to trade him so they don't lose him to free agency for next year and get nothing but an end of the first round draft pick as compensation. If they were to trade him for another team's junk, then they might as well keep him for the final year of his contract and hope they are good enough to win their division and make a run in the playoffs.

you may, in a heartbeat, however the Twins would not. The Twins do not opt for past, Murton, and Dempster, they're finding for good youthful pitching possibilities to maintain their team aggressive until those gamers attain a point of value the place they are going to be traded besides.
