I must admit, I chuckled a little when I read the article.

No I don't think it is it's just a bit of fun and I'm sure they knew what they were doing.

edit: TERA didn't you read the article it stands for "Many Islands, Low Fares" not the other.

edit: Oh yeah sorry Tera I missed the reclining woman bit.

First reaction to the ad: this is pretty stupid.

After further thought: it's sexist, as well.

Further thought: rather offensive, actually. And potentially harmful in that it might encourage some men to believe that they are likely to encounter sexy, older women whom (implied) may be interested in sexual attention. Seems to me that this could be setting up women who fit the physical criteria for unwanted, unasked for attention. And for men who are ignorant enough to buy into that (literally...with money and "intent") this may be somewhat of a big disappointment for them when they figure out that they've been deceived by the advertisement. (Most men aren't that "dumb", but hey...there are some psychologically or mentally unstable folks out there.)

If the airline doesn't pull the add, just wait until a woman on that island gets raped by a tourist...it's not gonna matter much if it can be proven that the crime had anything to do with the ad or not- it's going to come to the attention of the media (and to the attention of some high-powered attorneys) - and trust me, there's going to be a big lawsuit against the airline.

VERY irresponsible advertising, to say the least.

I thought it was a bit "cute" or funny at first...but the reaction only lasted long enough for me to realize the implications...and then it ceased to be quite so funny.

Johno: didn't you read it? The acronym "MILF" (as most people know it stands for "mother I'd like to f*ck") and the image of a reclining woman? Ever heard of subliminal advertising? And that's not really so sublime, either...

The original ad for Miller Genuine Draft Light beer had the tag line

I want my GD light.

They quickly changed it (to MGD Light), any wonder why!

Now tell me those college boys and girls who dreamt that one up didn't have a chuckled when the came up with that first line...

Absolute true story.

Same with Granny Goose potato chips

Are you old enough to eat Granny Goose!

That was the original tag line, which got changed real fast!

That gets to me is these are a year in development, the whole ad agency sees them the sponsor sees them the board sees them

No one caught this!

Or did they think it would fly over our heads.

I thought it was hilarious, but then again, I'm a libertine.

There's just a time for someone to pull a joke over on the system, to get something like that by the censors and the CEO's.

My heart soars every time I see it happen.

I think the boundaries of decency need to pushed every once in a while.

Nope, I hate political correctness, and even if this doesn't necessarily fall into that category, it's still fine in my opinion. If that's what the airline wants, then so be it. I'm anti-censoring media except for the obvious.

I think if it would have been more useful if that article had been dedicated to Darfur or maybe the Iraq war?
