they were the ancient ancestors of the modern day Italians. they believed that they were the direct descendants of Aeneas father-in-law, Latinus. they migrated to the Italian peninsula from what is considered to be the Baltic region, or perhaps modern Turkey. they would build several city-states in Italy and eventually would found the Roman Empire. this would lead to them spreading their language, Latin, culture, through out much of the ancient world.
