Most good music shops sell them. The digital ones retail at around 18 pounds. They're small, credit card sized so they fit in an instrument case for ease of transport. You can put headphones into them too. The more traditional mechanical ones retail at around 25 pounds. I don't know any brand names which are better than their competitors as all of them do the same job. You can get novelty shaped mechanical ones. The shop I work in sells an owl one and you can get them in different colours too. I'd personally go with the digital one.

A good music shop should some - Wittner is a well-established make (since 1895). I personally like the mechanical model. It's quite satisfying (or maybe just hypnotic) to watch.

Wittner is a good brand.Digital ones can give you a flashing light as well as a 'click', if you would find that helpful.I think mechanical is best if it's for use with a piano.Larger ones give you more volume so you can hear it above your instrument. I get my music stuff from Dawkes online music store-reasonable prices and good service.

Most music shops sell both types, or you might even pick one up in a saleroom. I prefer the traditional mechanical ones.

Wittner are the best traditional style brand (ie - wind up ones). Korg do good digital ones.

Mechanical every time - forget digital, insufficient adjustment for individuals on them.
