My friend recieved a check for a considerable amount .A letter enclosed stated it was from an on line game and that he was to take the check to his bank , then take out a certain amount and call their office for payment instructions.Then afterward he would be issued a final payment of his winnings.My friend says he looked up the bank that is on the check and it is a real bank and that it has the watermark security background.Is this a scam or could it be true.He's aqsking me and I'm asking you ,How can you know if stuff like this is real?

The letter has info such as :ref:#,Acct#,and a Pin# and speaks of the Federal taxes and surcharges

Go to a website called Fakechecks.org This website tells of how the scam works.

You have to be really stupid to fall for a scam.

Did your friend enter the online game? Did he pay for a ticket? No, of course not. So why on earth does he think anyone is going to appear out of the blue and give him money when he didn't give them anything for it?

DUH!
