Is there a way to achieve this? I've applied for a few jobs and I've been told to expect an interview for one of these in a couple of weeks time. The problem is sometimes I find it really hard to talk to people and convey whatever I'm trying to get across in an articulate and concise way?? I'm usually better with friends but sometimes in a situation where I have to speak in front of someone for a considerable time I suddenly become self conscious/tong tied and come across like an idiot! :-) (Err...like...mmmm...) I understand that communication is really important in most jobs and I'd like to make a good impression. I really don't want to let myself down! Please help, is it just confidence or is there more to it? If anyone could provide me with any tips/ideas, it would be really apprecaited, thank youuuu xx

you one way to get over articulation is is you put a pen in your mouth, not down your throat, horizontal so the sides stick out on both sides, and you are biting down on it and try speaking. it helps to pronounce your words better and to speak louder so people can understand you. also, to get over your tongue-tiedness, you should try just talking to more people and get out more often. if you can, join a speech or public speaking course, and for interviews, you should just make of list of things you should say and just have mock interviews with people that aren't so close to you like a classmate or colleague. hope this helps.

Focus on providing answers to questions which cover multiple concerns.

I recently did the whole interview thing myself, and I found it was very helpful to look over common interview questions to get an idea for what type of answers will be expected (and what type of answers will be *good*).

a few tips...
slow down when you are talking to employers. if you take more time, you'll be able to think better about what you will say next.
stretch out your face before the interview. also do vocal exercises. say all the vowels as articulate as possible.
make sure you go in confident. the way i get confident is to dress myself up well...when i look good, i feel good. this may differ for everyone tho. take a breather before you go in too. Get there maybe five or ten minutes early and just breathe deeply in and out. if you go right on in before relaxing, you may be even more nervous. Good luck!

It takes practice. Most employers understand that many people become nervous during interviews, so you can be sure that they will take this into account. Just practice your answers before hand. Most employers use some variation of the same questions, like "Why do you think you are perfect for this job?" or "what is your biggest flaw?" things like that. If you prepare yourself before hand, you will do much better than just winging it.

Wow, those guys at the top of the answers are assholes, but anyway- practice talking to the mirror, exaggerate your movements of the mouth when you talk, memorize some effective concise vocabulary, cause when you have potent words to use- you automatically become more concise. you need to practice in front of your friends if you are making a speech. also if you learn to write more articulately you will in turn speak this way. take a writing class, brush up on you vocabulary. also when speaking with someone and if you feel like you are rushed to answer them right away, just take your time to think about what you want to say. You may be hard to undertsand becasue you are rushing yourself, and then stumbling.

Less MTV. Read challenging stuff-look up the meaning of what you don't get. Build. Build, etc. Listen to Public radio interviews and look'em up.

find a subject..or do a mock interview (have a friend interview you), record it, then listen to it by playing it back and have a few different people listen to it to see if you are clear, then have them tell you how you can be more clear and concise.

read a lot of books, listen to yourself, try reading lines from plays to make your speech flow well. However, you are better off pausing for a second than saying "ummm" or "like" i read even great speakers like Abe Lincoln would pause to gather thoughts.

There are whole essays written on this.

But don't forget to think before you speak :)

Try talking in front of the mirror. This will help you with your facial expressions and will help you get rid of some of the nervousness when you actually do talk in front of people.
