definetely be yourself, be unique and nice to others, youll see that you get more friends by being unique than by trying to be like others

Just go around and talk to a bunch of different people. Get to know everyone, be nice, and non-judmental. There are the so called "popular" kids who are never very nice, but to be popular in the real since means that you're everyone's friends, and everyone likes you! Good luck

figure out why you want to be popular. maybe you are already popular but don't realize it. do you want a lot of friends? then be a friend, be yourself, talk to people, listen to what others have to say. let them talk about themselves more than you talk about yourself and for goodness' sake, never tell anyone what you have been told (unless they are going to hurt themselves or someone else, then you probably should). if you are yourself and let others be themselves around you, you will make friends.
do you want to be the prettiest or most liked person around? well, that is a bit more complicated but the sexiest thing you can have is self confidence. knowing that you are pretty and likable is the first thing to change about yourself if you want to be popular.

Become the girl friend of a popular guy, or be someone that a large number of students can identify with, be nice to everybody. And be yourself, don't try to be what you are not.

What crowd do you want to become popular with?
Bad crowd? Be as bad as you can be.
Church crowd? Be as good as you can be.
School crowd, ?
With any crowd, you must first identify what is important to them then do all of the important things. Just do it honestly. They will be able see a fake a mile away.
Is smile important. Is stabbing a friend in the back important?

Popular people mix with everyone and are friendly even if they feel no affection for anyone, drink and party, go to the gym because they are obsessed with their bodies, talk about subjects you might quail from discussing in public, cause embarrassment to others and enjoy doing it. you usually don't want to be popular because you are teasing,or just being, so stay away from that. if you are really socially reliant, then this idea will work. here it goes. You are to be nice, because that shows good character, be good in class, because a smart, nice, and usually pretty girl is to become popular.

Don't be someone who wants to be popular, let them come to you by being nice, cheerful, funny. Popularity is not something you can buy, you will always have friends, and if you want to be popular just be who you want to be, not who everyone else wants to be. :)

popular as in "popular" or popular as in everybody likes you? cuz i don't kno why you'd want to become the first one. but as for the second: be outgoing, be nice, don't be rude to anyone, bring candy (no one can resist candy) for people randomly to make their day, etc. = )
